Land Surveyor - Fargo, ND

We are an award-winning civil engineering consulting firm recognized locally and nationally for our culture and values. A Land Surveyor will provide surveying services in support of internal projects and directly for clients. This individual will work on a survey crew with potential for advancement to crew chief.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct or oversee field surveys to determine and establish boundaries, topography, data collection, geodetic control, etc.
  • Provide or oversee construction staking for site layout, structures, grading, paving, roadways, drainage features, etc.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D to prepare plats, maps, record drawings, and other legal survey documents.
  • Assemble field data, perform survey calculations, and prepare legal descriptions.

Required / Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Surveying experience and/or degree in surveying or related field.

  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in Surveying preferred but not required.

  • Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) Certification and/or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) Certification or ability to obtain preferred

  • Experience using AutoCAD, GPS, and Total Station.

  • Ability to work both in the field and within an office environment.

  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.

  • Travel as needed to project locations.

  • Effective written and verbal communication and organizational skills.

  • Resourceful with an ability to effectively troubleshoot and problem solve.

Physical

  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles on uneven terrain
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 75 pounds
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs as well as moving the whole body such as running, maneuvering, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • Drive and navigate vehicles or mechanized equipment including but not limited to all-terrain vehicles or water craft
  • Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
  • Use hands and arms to handle, install, position, and manipulate or move materials
  • Service, repair, calibrate, regulate, fine-tune, or test machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily based on electrical or electronic principles
  • May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
