The Lourie Center Clinic seeks to hire a Behavioral Health Therapist who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.
The Lourie Center for Children's Social & Emotional Wellness is a private, non-profit agency with a mission to improve the social and emotional health of young children and their families through prevention, early intervention, education, research and training.
As a Mental Health Therapist, you will:
•Provide direct clinical services including evaluations and psychotherapy (individual, family, collateral, and parent counseling) to assigned cases under the supervision of a licensed clinician.
•Participate in diagnostic evaluations of children with suspected social-emotional problems or developmental delays. Assess family functioning, identifying the quality of parent-child relationships and the family's dynamics. Related duties include identifying needed services, preparing written evaluations, obtaining relevant information from school settings, making home and school visits as appropriate, interpreting evaluation results for parents and other professionals working with a client, and developing home programs, treatment plans, and educational plans based on state regulations and forms.
•Under clinical supervision, provide psychotherapeutic treatment to children and their families including individual play therapy, parent collateral work, family therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy. Monitor progress of children/families in treatment and formally review treatment plan and goals every six months. Consult with other professionals working with the client both at Lourie Center and outside of the agency to assure coordinated and comprehensive service delivery.
•Consult to professionals in the community including pediatricians, school administrators, and child welfare/DHHS case workers regarding the appropriateness of referrals and the progress in therapy and ongoing therapeutic needs of individual clients at our Center.
•Participate in scheduled interdisciplinary meetings to formulate a comprehensive diagnosis and a coordinated treatment plan for Lourie Center clients, as well as to review the progress made in treatment and to develop new treatment strategies for children at Lourie Center.
•Participate in case conferences, disposition meetings, staff meetings, and parent feedback, as needed.
•Perform basic administrative tasks related to work assignments including the timely preparation of written reports, billing forms, work schedules, and progress notes to document treatment sessions.
•Maintain medical records in a complete, timely and legible form, including parent information forms, consent forms, data collection forms, progress notes, and treatment plans and goals as required by state DHMH.
•Interpret Lourie Center's function and philosophy through contacts with the community in addition to actively recruiting referrals for Lourie Center.
•Continue professional education by attending formal continuing education programs, conferences, and advanced training and by regular consultation with health care providers. Receive weekly clinical supervision.
•Access Protected Health Information on a routine basis. Comply with all privacy standards of The Lourie Center that include HIPAA, COMAR and others - state and federal regulations as written in the Privacy Manual.
Qualifications Include:
•Master's degree in social work/counseling or equivalent Master's degree in a recognized health field.
•1 years' experience preferred.
•Experience in working jointly with a range of families and young children with disabilities.
•LGSW/LGPC in the state of Maryland.
•After school availability for clients preferred.
•Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
•Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8am-5pm; One evening per week until 8pm required.

("Nicotine products" include, but are not limited to: cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, e-cigarettes, vaping products, hookah, and nicotine replacement products (e.g., nicotine gum, nicotine patches, nicotine lozenges, etc.).
