Education and Work Experience:

• Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology: Required
• Bachelor's Degree: Preferred
• Three years' relevent acute care experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

• National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certified: Preferred
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS): Preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Healthstream Basic Life Support (HS-BLS) or RQIBLS or Heartsaver CPR (CPR): Required

Essential Functions:

• Verifies surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings patient to assigned operating room. Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure. Anticipates surgeons needs of additional supplies.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed. Prepares sterile dressings. Secures dressings after incision closure.
• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure. Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedure. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and medications/solutions needed for procedure. Helps drape sterile field.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assists other members of team with cleaning of room for turnover. Assist in prepping room for the next patient.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
