University of Central Florida is Hiring a Research Specialist II (TEMP) Near Orlando, FL

College of Health Professions and Sciences:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) is home to nationally recognized programs focused on health and wellness - and a respected faculty dedicated to teaching innovations and research partnerships. The college offers accredited programs in athletic training, communication sciences and disorders, physical therapy, and social work. CHPS also offers one of UCF's largest majors, health sciences, as well as popular programs in sport and exercise science within the field of kinesiology. Through coursework, field experience, and inter professional education, our students develop high-demand skills in healthcare and cultural competency for working with varied populations.

The Opportunity:

The Center for Behavioral Health Research & Training is hiring a full-time Project Manager with specialized training in grant management and mental health/suicide prevention. The Project Manager position will work under the direction Dr. Gryglewicz, Principal Investigator of the Florida LEADS (Launch Engage Activate Departments and Systems for Zero Suicide) Project, a federally funded initiative aimed to raise awareness of suicide, establish referral processes, and improve care and outcomes for adults (25 ) at risk for suicide. This position will provide both administrative and research support to implement and evaluate the Zero Suicide initiative within state level departments, networks, and organizations across the state of Florida.

This position is grant-funded, not to exceed 3 years and is contingent on federal funding. This is not a clinical or direct service position.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and coordinating statewide/regional training, education, and research activities, as outlined in the LEADS Project (to work closely with contracted staff from other organizations).

  • Assist in monitoring programmatic and evaluation objectives and goals, including reporting of regional/state activities and goals in monthly and annual reports, creating and updating monthly quality assurance tracking databases, collecting/reporting performance measures to SAMHSA (SPARS database).

  • Data management of project aim indicators (using federal databases, excel and SPSS databases).

  • Assist in creating modifying surveys and data codebooks; data coding and analysis; creation of program evaluation data reports.

  • Coordinate communication with research/training teams and core community stakeholders, including scheduling and participating in meetings, creating/disseminating meeting minutes.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise research assistants.

  • Assist evaluation team by conducting fidelity checks on trainings in suicide prevention and intervention (as needed).

  • Provide technical assistance and support to the Care Coordination Coordinator (UCF position).

  • Provides technical assistance to the Community Outreach & Engagement Specialist (UCF position).

  • Assist in writing scholar papers for publication/presentations; grant writing.

  • Conduct literature reviews, create annotated summaries, and organize online data libraries/management system.

  • Conduct administrative duties as assigned, e.g., organizing data files, ordering training supplies, reviewing and submitting approving site invoices, preparing travel invoices/submitting reimbursements, preparing training materials for trainings, attending webinars, etc.,

  • Performs related duties as assigned or deemed necessary for the successful performance of the grant.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications :

  • A master's degree from an accredited college of university in social work, public health, psychology, public administration, or closely related field.

  • Experience in program coordination and support, including providing technical assistance, consultation, training, curriculum development, and/or quality assurance.

  • Knowledge of best practices in suicide prevention; suicide prevention/mental health translational research.

  • Exceptional skills to synthesize and interpret research and evaluation data into understandable/useable information.

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in social work, public health, psychology, public administration, or closely related field.

  • Prior project/grant management experience, at least 1 year.

  • Demonstrated time management, organizational, and project management skills.

  • Outstanding skills and abilities in verbal and written communications.

  • Ability to work in a team setting.

  • Strong attention to detail, ability to apply care, thoroughness, and high quality to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.

  • Critical thinking and strong work ethic and reliability.
