The role you’ll contribute: RN Supervisor

Performs a wide variety of professional nursing care activities and accommodates services for the physicians and the practice, following established standards, practices, policies and procedures. Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of the policies, procedures, regulations of nursing programs and an effective supervisory technique(s).

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains current, valid CPR certification and RN license, registration or certification.
  • Selects and assigns staff, ensuring equal employment opportunity in hiring and promotion.
  • Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
  • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
  • Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
  • Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates assigned task/work and objectives for different areas.
  • Supervises and participates in the provision of general nursing care activities.
  • Conducts assessment of patient’s needs and initiates nursing care plans.
  • Serves as liaison between staff and other areas within the facility at large, and as an advisor to other discipline.
  • Assesses needs for personnel, supplies, equipment, and physical facilities for budget planning.
  • Participates in clinical conferences, workshops, seminars, and related forums.
  • Participates in agency or facility security procedures.
  • Responds and refers patient related phone calls within a two hour period. Calls in prescriptions as ordered by the physician within 30 minutes.
  • Completes referrals (for other MD’s and insurance companies), hospital admissions and processes information and gives patient clear instructions.
  • Observes, records, and accurately, efficiently reports patient condition and reaction to medications and treatment to physician.
  • Documents all phone conversations regarding patients and recommendations. Documents all prescriptions called to any pharmacy as ordered by the physician.
  • Documents all test results, making notes of abnormalities and stat information. Posts test and examination results in patient chart. Assures that physician has reviewed and signed all reports.
  • Assists and ensures all patient records, notes are filed in patient chart. Prepares medical chart for dictation.
  • Performs job related duties as assigned, needed or requested.
  • Maintains medication safety by monitoring refrigerator and freezer temperatures and dating multi-dose vials when opened. Ensures that no expired medications are available for use.
  • Follows AHMG policy on cleaning and sterilization of instruments. Completes AHMG Sterilization Load Record accurately and completely.
  • Sterilization/safety processes maintained at 100% compliance.
  • Practice laboratory quality control processes maintained at 100% compliance.
  • Completes Nursing Procedure Log accurately daily.
Qualifications

:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current, valid Florida State of Board Nursing Registered Nursing License
  • CPR Certified
  • Must be willing to float to other AHMG practices, within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules etc. make it necessary

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Two to four years of professional nursing experience, physician office preferred.
