Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time, Day Shift. Mon-Fri with administrative call

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Demonstrates leadership ability and role models superior customer service.
  • Interacts professionally with all people.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the nursing process.
  • Updates the Unit Manager/Director on pertinent issues on a daily basis.
  • Manages the development of, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the orthopedic program.
  • Leads regularly scheduled meetings with hospital administrators, physicians, and key staff. Presents key statistics at team meetings.
  • Creates measurement system for tracking surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction, identifying areas that require improvement.
  • Creates and oversees an ongoing quality improvement plan.
  • Coordinates, provides and directs the performance of care and treatment of services to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Acts as a resource to staff; providing assistance in difficult patient care situations.
  • Resolves patient and family concerns/complaints as well as investigate and follow-up on patient care complaints by physicians and/or staff.
  • Ensure physician satisfaction by monitoring needs, developing relationships, and following through with problem resolution. Including regular visits with physicians and office support staff.
  • Conducts rounds on inpatients with physicians to ensure desired patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist physicians with procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate pre-op preparation for each patient prior to surgery including monitoring schedule and patient/family education.
  • Develop standardized care plans/case management with the orthopedic surgeons for each patient, including needs assessments pre-op, post-op, and discharge orders. Includes home care and equipment needs.
  • Coordinate care plans with multidisciplinary team of physicians, physical therapy, and surgery.
  • Develop and oversee the creation of pre and post-op teaching classes including the coordination of teaching materials with physicians’ offices.
  • Coordinate patient satisfaction events: post-discharge phone calls, special events for patients in program.
  • Develop a community and staff education program inclusive of schedules, lectures, presenters, content, and materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications


What You Will Need:

  • Basic RN Nursing Skills
  • Computer Skills
  • Customer Service Skills
  • Adult Education Skills
  • Fluent in English Language, speaking, reading, writing
  • Knowledge of Orthopedics and Joint Replacements preferred
  • Pre-operative Teaching Skills preferred
  • Knowledge of AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice preferred
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing required
  • Prior Education Experience preferred
  • Prior Perioperative Experience preferred
  • Current RN License in State of Florida
  • BLS
  • ACLS within 90 days of employment
  • NAON membership preferred

Job Summary:

The Orthopedic Program Coordinator is responsible for the design, development, implementation, organization, and supervision of day-to-day operations with the AdventHealth Sebring Orthopedic Center of Excellence. The Program Coordinator will coordinate the efforts between surgeons, hospital administration, and staff while evaluating the progress for the program and identifying areas requiring attention.
