Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Qualifications and Responsibilities

Days / Hours: Full-Time

• Weekend Call Rotation

Qualifications:

• Current Physician Assistant License / OR Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Nurse Practitioner licensure required
• Current ACLS certification
• Eligible to be state licensed in the U.S.
• Minimum of two years relevant experience in cardiology is desired

Job Description:

• Effectively identify, evaluate and address prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease
• Collaborate with medical team, ensuring the safety of patients when indicated
• Demonstrate proficiency in EKG interpretation, heart monitors, labs & other related cardiac testing (training provided for EKG if necessary)
• Understand cardiac diseases, treatments, procedures, including familiarity with cardiac medication
• Educate patients and families
• Maintain current educational/credentialing/certification requirements

Responsibilities

• Full scope of practice
• Shared rounding responsibilities on the floor responsibilities
  
  • Consults, Discharges, Clinic follow-up
• Outpatient care coordination as needed
• Takes complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians
• Performs physical examinations
• Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures
• Reaches tentative diagnosis of medical, surgical and other conditions
• Develops treatment plans in conjunction with attending physician to provide optimal patient medical management
