The role you’ll contribute:

The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for the timely and systematic gathering and analysis of retrospective medical record data. Compiles, scans, processes, and maintains medical records consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements. Utilizes electronic health record system for inquiry purposes, enters and sends data, and generates reports. Releases medical information, as appropriate

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Prepares detailed Medical Record Report Summaries which accurately track and measure performance and submits for review on a defined schedule – monthly or quarterly.
  • Maintains productivity levels in clinical abstracting to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for monthly Medical Record Reviews.
  • Ensures all requests for medical records are documented. Bills requesting entities, when appropriate, for records in advance.
  • Conducts retrospective chart audits to abstract performance data. Ensures accuracy in data collection, data entry and data analysis.
  • Assists the practice and MIS team in identifying areas for improvement
Qualifications


Qualifications - External

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • Minimum qualifications:
    • High school graduate or equivalent required
    • Systematic in approach, detail-oriented, and able to ensure quality and accuracy of statistical reports is required.
    • Proficient in key entry, basic computer skills, and navigating Windows-based software is required.
    • Strong verbal communication skills required.
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Associate’s Degree in Medical Records or Health Information is preferred
    • Two years recent medical experience or other clinical/healthcare related background is preferred.
    • Past experience with Electronic Medical Records is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel is strongly preferred
