The role you’ll contribute:

Functions as a member of the surgical services bariatric service line providing professional nursing care to the bariatric surgical patient population and potential patient population.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Coordinates and facilitates twice monthly Bariatric Seminar/Support Group (community members, physician offices, hospital support-I.T., Marketing, Dietary, EVS, and Plant Operations).
• Manages and coordinates hospital quarterly metabolic meetings (quality metrics, regulatory compliance).
• Manages and coordinates hospital bariatric compliance readiness for Site Program visits with SRC/MBSAQIP.
• Prepares quarterly Quality reports and works closely with Quality Director to complete surgical appropriateness forms.
• Tracks and coordinates follow up emails/phone calls with potential patients who show interest in bariatric surgery from the mymetateam.com and divisional website.
• Provides education to patients in Pre-Admission testing on post op diet, plan of care, post-op expectations.
• Provides support for non-English speaking patients using hospital approved interpretive services.
• Maintain log of live seminar attendees and support group attendees; follow up with those patients who have yet to make appointments post seminar.
• Audits all bariatric patient charts for surgery within the last 30-60 days and inputs follow up data for bariatric surgeons in MBSAQIP and SRC database.
• Informs clinical and non-clinical staff if there are any updates/changes to education.
• Make rounding visits on bariatric patients post-operatively and communicates with bariatric surgeon with any essential information.
• Greet patients pre-operatively in pre-op to review their goals for best post-op outcomes
• Makes follow up calls to bariatric patients within 6 days post-operatively to see how they are doing.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• Professional nurse- RN
• Two-years minimum experience as a post-surgical RN on bariatric unit
• RN-professional nursing license
• Bariatric nurse certification (CBN) (preferred)
