Job Title: Jr. Mechanical Engineer
Job Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Hourly Rate: Up to $35hr depending on experience.
Job Schedule: 9/80 Work Week - Off every other Friday!
Job Summary:
  • Come join our team! We currently have exciting possible Temp-to-Perm opportunities in Sterling Heights, MI for Jr. Mechanical Engineers to work as System Integration Engineers supporting the assembly of the M10 Booker and Abrams Tanks prototype builds and verification.
Job Description:
  • Support the assembly of the M10 Booker and Abrams Tanks prototype builds and verification.
  • Act as primary interface between sub-system engineering and the prototype build shop responsible for vehicle level system integration, verification, and problem reporting/resolution.
  • Develop and foster a cohesive build team environment between prototype shop mechanics, sub system engineers, and system engineers.
  • Write Material Requests (MRs) for the purchase of all material required.
  • Direct mechanics in the assembly of vehicle and subsystems as per models and drawings.
  • Monitor the Engineering Bill of Materials (BOM) maturity and Engineering Release Plan execution.
  • Utilize and update the prototype build BOM.
  • Keep the team lead informed on prototype build and verification status.
  • Track material receipts and address "late to need" issues.
  • Status assembly and fabrication build plans.
  • Disposition of obsolete parts as directed by USG.
  • Generate Engineering Problem Reports to document fabrication, installation, and/or functionality issues discovered during the prototype build.
  • Overtime and some second shift work will be required.
Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required. BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Required:
  • Entry Level (Less than year experience)
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Enjoy hands on work with actual vehicles in a prototype environment.
  • Must meet the anthropometric requirements (ASR) to entry into the driver's station or into an enclosed military vehicle. (Must be shorter than 6' 4" and weigh less than 260lbs).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Mind-set to work collaboratively in a team environment for program success.
  • Proven skills in the development of technical documents and oral communication.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills sought.

  • Must be U.S. Citizen - "Must be able to meet ITAR requirements, including US citizenship to be considered for this role."
