Purpose

To support CDC and NIOSH-Wide diversity and inclusion Blueprint For Action (BFA) initiatives to achieve

health equity as well as enhancing NPPTL's BFA workforce strategies.

Scope of Work

The National Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) is committed to the diversity and inclusivity within the NPPTL workforce, the workplace, and across the stakeholder groups we serve. The Division has made strides in identifying diversity and inclusion opportunities through our Blueprint for Action (BFA) plan and will continue to work to achieve health equity through the goals and actions set forth in the action plan.

Task #1

The contractor will support NPPTL's efforts in advancing health equity in disadvantaged populations through Personal Protective Technology interventions. As part of the NPPTL BFA Action Plan (Marketplace Goal #2), the fellow will assist NPPTL in exploring potential Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) design and use challenges for underrepresented user groups. This will be achieved by performing tasks such as participating in meetings with stakeholders (e.g., standards development organizations, industry associations, labor unions, and professional societies), developing documents to obtain public comment (e.g., Federal Register Notice), supporting NPPTL-led or sponsored workshops, webinars, or National Academies reports, developing white papers, improving NPPTL strategic planning documents, and developing content for contract statements of work.

Task #2

The contractor will assist in continuing efforts to strengthen NPPTL's virtual workplace through virtual workplace engagement and professional development opportunities with an emphasis on topics associated with diversity (Workplace Goal #1). The fellow will also provide support to NPPTL in fostering professional development and career advancement opportunities to promote a diverse and inclusive workplace (Workplace Goal #2).
