Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) is Hiring a Robotics Test Technician Near Pittsburgh, PA

The ARM Institute seeks an experienced and hands on Robotics Test Technician to support ARM’s Robotics Manufacturing Hub program. Are you a self-starter that loves to learn how things work and desire to grow additional skillsets? Do you have experience working with power tools and robotics? Come be part of the Hub, a grant-funded program aimed at helping small and medium manufacturers adopt robotics and automation. The Hub consists of four robotic de-risking cells with the following capabilities: collaborative robotics, 3D vision, 2D vision, pick and place, welding, sanding/grinding, material handling, and scanning/ inspection. The Hub has a variety of robotic arms and a variety of end of arm tooling, software, and robotic accessories.The Robotics Test Technician will use their skills to help setup, configure, and maintain the robotic de-risking cells and support the engineering team to conduct proof of concept and testing for manufacturing applications in the de-risking cells. This position will report to the Principal Robotics Engineer and work closely with engineers and the RMH program manager. This position is on-site and full-time at our Pittsburgh, PA location at Mill 19. What you'll do:
  • Program, install, and configure robotic automation systems and perform troubleshooting and debugging of robotic systems.
  • Execute testing procedures of robot systems, robot subsystems, or simulated manufacturing processes. Collect data and report results.
  • Set up, maintain, and implement equipment preventative maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Order, receive, and install robotic equipment and prototyping equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Communicate internally and externally with ARM leadership, vendors, RMH lab visitors, and manufacturing clients.
  • Support design and implementation of robotic cells for specific manufacturing de-risking projects
  • Support demonstrations and proof of concept of robotic cells completing manufacturing tasks.
What you'll need: 
  • Associate degree or higher in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with robotics and/or automation preferred.
  • Ability to problem solve and work autonomously.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, etc)
  • Hands on experience in robot setup, install, troubleshooting, and operations.
  • Collaborative and Industrial robot programming experience with one of the following: Yaskawa, Fanuc, or UR
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Forklift and overhead crane certified or able to become certified upon hire.
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
