Responsibilities

The Recreational Therapist is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating approved recreation programs for patients in treatment.

Works effectively with the facility leadership team to ensure success of the facility by completing the following:

Core Job Duties:

  • Conducts therapeutic sessions to improve patients' mental and physical well-being.
  • Observes, assesses and records patient participation and progress during recreational sessions,
  • Plans, organizes, and directs recreational activities to facilitate patient recovery and well-being.
  • Assists clinical team to develop a treatment plan to meet needs recreational needs of the patient.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma is required. Post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience
  • Certification in Recreation Therapy required
  • CPR and Standard First Aid certification preferred
