THE ROLE:

As a valued member of the Data Center GPU & Accelerated Processing applications engineering organization, your role is pivotal in shaping and building the entire customer journey, from the very first point of contact through development and mass production. In this customer-focused role, you will be working with AMD's Instinct line of GPU and Accelerated Processors being designed into super computers in North America and EMEA. You will be responsible for building, managing, and motivating a world-class software applications support organization focused on proactively solving some of the world's hardest AI & HPC problems. Your contribution will play a vital part in cementing our reputation as a customer-centric company that is committed to excellence at every turn.

THE PERSON:

A successful candidate is familiar with driving and sustaining best-in-class technical support and improving overall customer satisfaction through resolution and closure of escalated technical support issues and managing needed collaboration between the end customer, software development, field applications, product management, business development, and executive management.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Your primary responsibilities will be the customer technical engagement for AMD GPU and APU products for computing systems deployed at customers datacenters and labs.
  • Technical authority on all AMD GPU and networking products, directly supporting Account Managers, Development Leads, and Product Managers to secure design wins, and to lead the technical discussions from design in/win all the way to product end of life.
  • Actively establish the technical relationship with our customer's engineers, management, and architects at focus accounts
  • You will be working cross-functionally with our organizations as well as ensuring a positive experience for external customers.
  • Identify customer architectures and key product requirements in the AI/HPC markets.
  • Provide onsite support to solve problems in hardware and software manifested during customers' AI or HPC application runs.
  • Familiarize yourself with performing hardware debug using oscilloscope, analyzers, and shell scripts to qualify, validate, and resolve AMD products deployed in customer systems.
  • Lead the support of the product through the design-in phase all the way to the product end of life.
  • Become a trusted advisor on technology to your customer and establish relationships to facilitate rapid resolution of issues and promote the highest levels of customer delight.
  • Establish strong relationships and communication channels with internal teams.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong experience in the high-tech electronics industry in a system design role or technical customer support role.
  • Capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment without losing focus.
  • Experience in GPU programming languages such as ROCm, CUDA, or OpenCL.
  • Excellent C/C and Python programming and software design skills, including debugging, performance analysis, and test design.
  • Understanding of secure software development lifecycle best practices, e.g., threat modeling, unit testing, incident response, etc.
  • Moderate to strong system administration skills on Linux and Windows
  • Strong time-management skills for coordinating multiple initiatives, priorities, and implementations of new technology and products into very complex programs.
  • Customer first mindset. Driven to meet or exceed customer expectations, resolve issues expeditiously and, when possible, proactively.
  • Effective communication & presentation skills and comfortable in a customer-facing environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities spanning multiple software (storage systems, kernels and containers.
  • Background with deep learning algorithms and frameworks
  • Especially experience Large Language Models and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and TensorRT
  • Experience contributing to a large open-source project - use of GitHub, bug tracking, branching and merging code, OSS licensing issues handling patches, etc.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
