Image Engineering was founded as a company that pushes boundaries, develops new ideas through design and fabrication, and is a leader in the visual display and special effects industry. We are comprised of a team of artists, engineers, event producers, fabricators and creative thinkers.

We have worked all over the United States completing over 500 projects in the field of creative multimedia shows for clients such as Rihanna, Jay Z, Tiesto, Lady Gaga, American Idol, America’s Got Talent and multiple professional sports franchises in the NFL, NBA and NHL. We have also created permanent and temporary interactive installations for world class venues including the Staples Center, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and The Walt Disney World.

Our strength lies in the broad range of techniques and custom special effects solutions we use to create first class spectaculars including laser effects, video projection and mapping, pyrotechnics, architectural lighting installs and custom constructed sets and props.

The Firmware Engineer is a hands-on design position engaged in the firmware development and sustaining of products designed by our in-house team as custom solutions for our clients. As part of a cross-functional team, this person has the responsibility of designing, implementing, testing and supporting firmware controlling embedded processors, as well as consulting on the circuit design. This person will apply knowledge of embedded software system development and be responsible for providing substantive technical assistance in software development projects, including the design, coding, and testing of all embedded software system components.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

• Specifying, designing, implementing, releasing, testing, and supporting embedded software products
• Participating in all phases of the embedded design project lifecycle
• Using C/C and Python in support of the embedded system development process
• Using techniques including interaction diagrams and class diagrams to convey complex systems to stakeholders
• Developing firmware to communicate with a variety of sensors, motors, and devices
• Create test rigs for PBCs, assist with document creation and perform/ record testing data
• Debugging and troubleshooting hardware and PCB designs
• Incorporating client and technician feedback into firmware revisions and manage the deployment of revisions
• Keep a clean and well-maintained workspace
• Follow company procedures and directives

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or Computer Science related field
• Able to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team in fast-paced environment on projects with short life cycles
• Knowledge of circuit design and electronics principles
• Ability to read and understand circuit schematics
• Experience with an array of microprocessors including but not limited to PIC32, Atmel, STM32 and RTOS
• Strong understanding of serial communication including SPI, I2C, RS232, and RS485 communication protocols
• Strong understanding of advanced protocols including usb and IP protocols such as TCP/ UDP
• Experience in MPLAB X IDE or STMCube IDE a plus
• Working knowledge of necessary lab equipment including digital multimeter and oscilloscope
• Able to use basic hand tools and soldering tools 
• Able to pass background check and must be authorized to work in the United States
• 18 years of age or older
