Job Summary

This position will support operations for ACTEnviro by providing environmental services and collections while observing safety protocols (proACTive).

Accountabilities

Hazardous Waste Management:

• Process and consolidate various chemicals, including bio-hazardous materials
• Assist with loading and shipping hazardous waste, including biological waste
• Inspect hazardous waste storage areas and documentation
• Support and manage hazardous waste at client sites.
• Label and organize containers in compliance with all regulations-CCR Title 22
• Responds to emergency situations when called upon
• Clean and support dock/facility as directed by client or management 
• Attend and maintain all required training necessary to perform job
• Perform safe work practices involving chemical, radiological and bioactive agents
• Availability to work weekends and extended hours as needed
• Support Project Managers, Chemists, Drivers, and Operation Manager
• Able to work independent
• Interface with clients
• Understand PPE requirements for the job
• Understand SDS, waste profiles and how they relate to hazardous waste management

Project Base Management:

• Able to work independent and lead 2 person short term projects.
• Interface with client
• Support decontamination and closure projects
• Mechanical ability to use tools and willing to understand process systems
• Confine Space work
• Follow Health and Safety Plan procedures
• Use appropriate PPE 
• Confine Space work

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Willingness/Ability to drive a B/C truck and have 3 years clean driving record, a plus
• Knowledge of the hazardous waste industry a plus
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background screen, physical, and drug-screen
• Utilize scissor lift and forklift
• Able to wear and comfortable wearing SCBA
• Comfortable to work at elevated heights.
• Computer skills/MS office
• Better understanding on 49CFR and 40CFR.

Education/Experience

• High school education or equivalent
• Experience in the hazardous materials/waste industry preferred
• Successfully completed HAZWOPER 40 hour (must have copies if certified), a plus
