About Adult & Teen Challenge Pacific Northwest:
We are a faith-based ministry that primarily functions to provide treatment and rehabilitative services to people with substance abuse issues. We have inpatient treatment in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Montana, and Idaho, and we combine our ability to evangelize and foster a relationship with Christ with evidence-based treatment and counseling services and vocational training to provide a well-rounded transformative experience for our students. Our TC Resale & Donation Centers are an intrinsic component to our ministry - providing educational opportunities for our students to learn job skills and positive work ethics, as well as providing a source of revenue for our ministry as a whole.
Position: Assistant Store Manager - Portland TC Resale & Donation Center
Salary Range: $21.00 depending on experience
Benefits: Generous PTO policy: starting at 128 hours annually (between sick, vacation, and floating holiday hours). Paid Holidays. Duties & Responsibilities:
This position requires specific responsibilities for:
1) Planning, development, implementation and administration of the store retail sales segment;
2) Acquisition, purchasing, inventorying, merchandising, pricing, maintenance, repair, storage and management of required items utilized in conjunction with the store retail sales operation
3) Preparation of statistical data reports as required;
4) Participating with other store managers formulating and effecting management policy and procedure;
5) Overseeing management, staff, interns, student, and volunteer participation in store retail sales daily work experience assignments.
This position entails a working material style function –This includes lifting, bending, standing, sorting, marking, displaying and cleaning that may exceed 45% of the employee’s time.
Examples of Principle Duties: (Examples do not cover all duties that will be performed).
1. A thorough working knowledge of all program policies and procedures
2. Possess good standards of personal hygiene and a clean neat appearance including prescribed standards for hair and dress.
3. Acts as primary liaison for contacts with persons regarding the ministry of Adult & Teen Challenge PNW and the Store component.
4. Plans, assigns, reviews and coordinates staff, volunteers and students daily work schedule for the thrift store retail sales component.
5. Assembles data and prepares regular and periodic reports pertaining to the work and overall effectiveness and management of the store retail sales component.
6. Responsible for inventory, maintenance, repair, purchasing and storage of the following: a) tools; b) equipment; c) marking and pricing supplies; d) job materials and supplies; e) donations, etc.
7. Opening and closing responsibilities of the store retail sales component during designated hours of operation.
8. Accounts for cash income items and deposit of revenues (cash, checks, money orders, etc.) produced from day to day store retail sales.
9. Preparation of job task performance evaluations for each employee, volunteer and student are required.
10. Promotes job safety among workers.
11. Oversees donation pick-up and delivery processes.
12. Oversees sorting processes and pricing of merchandise.
13. Works to enhance a students job skills and work ethic.
14. Availability and cooperativeness to assist in areas of the program as required by staff personnel.
15. All other duties as assigned by Store Manager or Operations Manager
Recruiting Requirements - Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
1. A working knowledge of the methods and practices of supervision and the ability to carry them out.
2. A working knowledge of administrative procedures and the ability to apply those principles.
3. A working knowledge of administrative record keeping procedures and accounting principles and practices
4. Considerable ability to work harmoniously with other staff personnel and supervise the work of subordinate employees
5. An ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
6. Emotional maturity
7. Professional objectivity
8. The ability to act in a Christian manner
9. The ability to carry out recommendations and directives of the Store Manager & Operations Manager.
Requirements:
1. High School Graduate (or equivalent)
2. Valid Driver's License
3. Business experience in retail sales, or experience that enables an individual to effectively manage, oversee, and operate a store, effectively interact, work with, and supervise staff, volunteers, and students participating in the store's day to day operations.
