Description

The Director of Procurement is responsible for all aspects of the procurement process at ADMAR, ensuring the process is efficient and items are purchased in an economical manner consistent with the sales and financial plans of the company.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement optimized purchasing activities and processes that supports the sales and financial plans of the company.
  • Serve as Company liaison with suppliers and vendors, cultivating and maintaining good relationships. 
  • Develop purchasing strategies to provide the best value to the Company (price, terms, quality, lead times, service and warranty) in support of Company financial plans.
  • Work with CFO and VP of Operations to develop and maintain optimal product pricing structures for equipment, merchandise and parts
  • Stay current with new products and product trends in the industry and marketplace keeping management team advised of new suppliers, new products, trends and opportunities
  • Present options to take advantage of special pricing and buying opportunities
  • Align purchasing policies and procedures with fleet management and inventory control programs to ensure optimal levels are maintained 
  • Support the Operations Team in the development of Branch procurement plans to ensure appropriate levels of stock are maintained
  • Consistently review procurement plans throughout the year to ensure plans support changes in sales and/or rental trends and forecasts
  • Work with existing suppliers and Operations Team to plan and coordinate the introduction of new equipment and products into the fleet / inventory. 
  • Implement vendor selection procedures to include: introduction of new or complementary vendors and products, selection and qualifications, product quality, pricing, service and warranty arrangements
  • Ensure proper support structure is in place regarding sales and service training, warranty information, acquisition of parts, marketing and promotional materials, etc for existing and new products and inventory
  • Perform supplier quality evaluations by considering price, quality, lead times and other criteria
  • Monitor and approve purchase requisitions and handles adjustments with vendors
  • Responsible for managing the accurate creation and submission of purchase orders through purchasing specialist and branch resources
  • Track and manage pending sales orders against existing inventory and inventory backlogs
  • Responsible for equipment registrations and capture of all available retail and cash discounts offered by suppliers and vendors
  • Support Credit Team on retail transactions and ensures correct equipment cost with all appropriate credits and rebates (Municipal deals/Retail/Rental discounts)
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, pricing, and supplier information
  • Prepare reports and key performance indicators to track the performance of the purchasing function
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience / Education – The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position.

Education and Experience:

Degree in business, construction management, procurement management or a related field required. Knowledge of and experience with construction equipment, equipment rental and sales industry required. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills necessary; mechanical aptitude and ability required. 

Language Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate with vendors, customers, management, and employees. Ability to read and understand technical documentation, blueprints, manuals and procedures. Ability to respond to detailed inquiries or complaints. Must be able to effectively present and explain concepts, product operations and procedures to internal and external product users, sales and support staff, with varying levels of education and product knowledge, individually and in groups. 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and work with common fractions and decimals to figure items such as discounts. 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts. Ability to interpret and follow instructions in various formats such as graphics, diagrams, charts. Ability to solve problems involving numerous variables with limited direction in a variety of situations.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, hear, talk, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, bend and stoop. The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms to reach, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to distinguish colors.

The work environment includes both that of a typical office and construction worksite. Frequent exposure to cold, heat, noise, fumes and dust.
