Description: The role of the Pit Orchestra Assistant position is to: Be present at all Pit rehearsals (negotiable) Help with general setup, tear-down, and student needs at each rehearsal Assist with copying, passing out, and digitizing student parts as needed Help guide student assistants Help with small group and individual music questions as comfortable Lead small group sectionals as needed within skill set Help load and unload into the SHS PAC pit Assist with sound balancing and serve as liaison to the soundboard staff while in the PAC As needed, lead periodic rehearsals It is important for the Pit Assistant to stay in regular contact with the Pit Director, be present at artistic and operational meetings for the musical, and to be proactive about asking questions. There are a lot of moving pieces to each show and many different people who have a say in how it all works. Your part in it will be extremely important to the success of the student musicians, and the production as a whole!

Projected Dates: Wednesday afternoons, starting end of August, through the end of October Periodic weekend/evening special rehearsals (Sitzprobe, additional tech needs) Two weeks of rehearsals (starting end of October) leading up to the show dates through performances Four productions (Thurs Nov. 14 in-school morning performance, Fri. Nov. 15 & Sat. Nov. 16 evening performances at 7p, Sun. Nov. 17 Sunday matinee at 2p) Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have an established record of success in pit experience for high school-age students / young adults.
