Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

The Assistant Manager, Social Media will assist in driving innovation in storytelling & publishing across our @adidas brand social media platforms, adidas' partner platforms and new media. In partnership with the Manager, Social Media execute against the US Sports owned and partner network, specifically adidas Dugout & adidas Volleyball channels.

This person will work directly with the Manager of Social Media to define the social editorial calendar for key initiatives and manage the day-to-day publishing to the category's social communities. This person will act as the Newsroom key point of contact for the category and its consumer across all relevant social platforms.

Secondary focus on the wider @adidas brand channel ecosysystem, creating engaging content plans and experiences which drive conversation both one to one and at scale, and connecting them to adidas' wider digital world - adidas.com & adidas app, prioritizing membership. Ensure innovation is landed in key campaigns across social platforms.

In collaboration with sports marketing and culture marketing teams, ensure brand stories are amplified through adidas partner portfolio and network channels with consistency, scale and impact. Make sure we are recognized as best in class for social media (paid & organic).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for executing the social media strategy across select NAM @adidas brand social channels (calendar, roll out, content ready to publish, social listening, reactive publishing)
    • Key Focus Area: adidas Dugout and adidas Volleyball
  • Support NAM team of social media publishers to manage and moderate adidas' brand channels to build and protect the brand.
  • Work with Newsroom network - PR, Partner Activation, Analytics - to maximize the publishing mix for all campaigns across owned, earned and paid channels. Identify and implement platform trends.
  • Partner with Brand Marketing/Communications and Digital Marketing teams to create effective editorial calendar and post plan specific to each social platform
  • Create publishing plans for adidas partners/athletes in-line with category social plans
  • Listen, respond, analyze, moderate and engage key social communities - reporting all findings and constantly adjusting strategy and tactics depending on data
  • Join cross functional project teams on larger scale adidas Brand initiatives
  • Monitor and record discussion trends to identify opportunities to shape future communications, raise issues with PR and Customer Service, and share with relevant Business Units.
  • Work closely with all key social influencers and/or sports marketing partners within category to ensure that the category's content is being seen and discussed.
  • Monitor performance against KPIs to feedback to stakeholders on success and outcome of content placement in media or publishing of content on social channels.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of the social media ecosystem and understanding how to effectively manage a social community (i.e. Meta, Tik Tok, X, Snapchat, Youtube, Pinterest)
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills to develop relevant post plans
  • Ability to manage and / or collaborate with internal and external cross-functional groups: product marketing, communications, social, digital and retail
  • Understanding of editorial planning, particularly across PR and social landscape including experience using social media analytics & publishing tools (e.g. Khoros/Sprinklr/Talkwalker)
  • Strong written and verbal, presentation and organizational skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English language skills
  • Knowledge, passion and understanding of US sports
  • Influencer and Creator-led Marketing
  • Content creation for social

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in marketing, advertising or related field required.
  • Two (2) years of social marketing experience, preferably with a sporting or consumer goods company or equivalent account management experience at an agency
  • A strong understanding of social media is required
  • Passion for youth and sports marketing as-well as an understanding of streetwear culture
  • Fluent written and spoken English language skills
