Job Summary

This position provides guidance, mentoring, social and life skills training to youth in residence that have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other co-occurring disorders. You will ensure maintenance of a healthy, therapeutic milieu and sound, trauma-informed treatment. Implement therapeutic activities designed to promote adaptation of positive alternative (replacement) behaviors for youth in the house. Monitor residents’ behaviors and build therapeutic relationships to implement and support programming. Plan and implement leisure time recreational activities and perform all other duties assigned by the Program Support Supervisor. This position will involve effective use of behavior management strategy and potential physical restraints using Physical & Psychological Management Training (PMT) to protect the young person from maladaptive behaviors endangering themselves and/or others.

Education, Experience and Other Qualifications:

AS degree in psychology, social work or a human services field preferred, and one year of experience working with emotionally disturbed, behaviorally disordered youth and youth with PDDs are required. BA/BS degree preferred. Must be willing to learn and implement the components of a PBSP. Certification in Physical Management Techniques (PMT) and Trauma Informed Care are required. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), mandated reporting, professional boundaries, CPR and First Aid. Must have the ability to apply the knowledge acquired during training while fulfilling job responsibilities with the youth. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required to ensure safety of the youth and coverage by the agency’s insurance carrier. The ability to work effectively with youth and other employees from diverse educational, ethnic, economic and educational backgrounds is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.50 - $20.00 per hour
