Addison Central School DistrictSpecial Education Director-Anticipated Vacancy The Addison Central School District is seeking a Special Education Director for an anticipated vacancy to support the administrators, teachers and students of our school district. The ACSD serves approximately 1650 students in seven communities and nine schools in the Champlain Valley of western Vermont. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent to provide support in the areas of special education and implementation of a multi-tiered system of services. The successful candidate will have experience working with special education and tiered practices.
The successful candidate must also possess: in-depth knowledge of, and the ability to effectively implement federal and state rules and regulations pertaining to special education; a demonstrated ability to plan student programs and supports; a willingness to learn the budget development process; the ability to work collaboratively within the school district and with outside agencies; knowledge and understanding of a multi-tiered, proactive system of supports for students; the ability to support special education staff through the evaluation process and in the development and implementation of IEPs; and have experience with online paperwork systems. Exceptional written and oral communications skills are necessary. Prior experience in a special education and/or administrative role preferred.
