Summary: We are seeking an individual with knowledge of Substance Abuse Programs and experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). In this role, you will play a crucial part in coordinating and delivering quality medical care in collaboration with therapists and medical providers. Required Education and Experience:

  • LPN or Certified Medical Assistant required.
  • CPR certification or obtainable within 30 days of hire.
  • Clinical experience required, with preference given to those experienced in Substance Abuse Treatment and/or Medication Assisted Treatment.
  • Note: All required certifications (including time and cost) will be the employee's responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and direct patients via phone or in-person.
  • Schedule new and follow-up patient appointments.
  • Monitor and review patient schedules for upcoming appointments.
  • Provide patient appointment reminders and motivate patients to keep appointments.
  • Coordinate Physician and Counselor schedules.
  • Obtain patient authorization for medical records release and information sharing (HIPAA CFR 42 compliance).
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment, including taking vital signs.
  • Perform screening and medical procedures as ordered by physicians.
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness of waiting room and treatment areas.
  • Triage patient calls as needed.
  • Communicate and document physicians' and counselors' orders/recommendations.
  • Obtain patient demographic and insurance information at each visit.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records, recording test results.
  • Assist in ordering, receiving, and stocking office and medical supplies.
  • Identify and resolve minor patient billing complaints.
  • Compile reports and perform other duties as assigned.

Expectations:

  • Knowledge of medical practice and provision of patient care services.
  • Understanding of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, basic anatomy, and medical equipment.
  • Skills in vital sign assessment, injections, blood drawing, and performing tests as ordered.
  • Ability to maintain quality control and patient privacy standards.
