Adaptec Solutions is Hiring a Project Manager- Material Handling Capital Installations Near Rochester, NY

Adaptec Solutions is a top-ten, North American integration partner engineering diverse material handling and automation solutions with lifecycle service support for manufacturing, distribution, and warehousing companies.

JOB SUMMARY

Prepares detailed proposals for capital projects and installations in coordination with Material Handling Sales Engineers. After order receipt and Sales Engineer handoff, manages project scope including purchase of capital equipment, project schedules and coordination of staffing resources to complete project safely, on time and within budget.

This role will require you to have a strong product and application-specific knowledge of traditional material handling products. Candidates for this position will be comfortable working in a team environment and expected to constantly evaluate the business processes looking for, and implementing, opportunities for improvement.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review material handling project specifications and prepare detailed project costing.
  • Support traditional material handling equipment installations.
    • All traditional material handling equipment, for example, but not limited to:
      • All types of Racking, Mezzanines, Modular Offices
      • Cranes & Hoists
      • Stretch Wrappers
      • Lift Tables
    • Will include kick-off with sales engineer, introduction to customer, vendor, and potential subcontractors. Work with CSRs to coordinate vendor orders & delivery.
    • Participate in regular project update meetings with the customer on longer cycle or complex projects.
  • Develop detailed proposals based on project scope and submit to customer requirements.
  • Determine key variables for cost and other estimates.
  • Conduct site visits prior to proposal bids to understand project scope and site challenges.
  • Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times, etc.
  • Use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors.
  • Perform risk analysis.
  • Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.) and develop knowledge of their products and integrated customer solutions.
  • Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs, etc.)
  • In conjunction with site lead, develop detailed project schedule and requirements to manage project scope, cost and time schedule to customer requirements.
  • Primarily supporting Adaptec Solutions Northeast Territory with travel to customer sites up to 10%.

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BSc/BA in engineering, construction science or relevant discipline.
  • Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) will be an asset.
  • Minimum of five years proven experience as estimator or similar position.

SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB:

  • Familiarity with financial and project management principles.
  • In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset.
  • Must be thorough and apt in managing relationships with key persons.

MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS:

  • Execution of project on time to customers required schedules.
  • Execution of project on cost targets (labor, materials, rentals, etc.).
  • On-the-job safety and training.
  • Customer satisfaction based on Net Promoter Score.
