Position Overview:
As the Vice President of Retail Operations, you will play a critical role in leading and overseeing the operational functions of our small chain grocery retailer. Reporting to the SVP and General Manager of Adams, you will be responsible for the overall execution of operation initiative plans, ensuring our eighteen stores exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, service, variety, freshness, cleanliness, food safety, and regulatory conditions. We are looking for a people leader who has a combination of deep operational expertise with a total performance mindset. You will lead the operation teams in planning, implementing, and executing merchandising initiatives that support company practices. In addition, you will play an integral part of our transformation team so that we become the best in class for small independents.
Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize operational processes, improve productivity, and drive business performance.
  • Store Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of our retail stores, including inventory management, merchandising, staffing, and customer service.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track operational performance, analyze data to identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and profitability.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and safety standards, ensuring that all operational activities adhere to legal and ethical standards.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop and manage the operational budget, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving initiatives to maximize profitability while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Customer Service: Ensure a favorable shopping experience for customers through balanced programs/initiatives (sales, budgeting, space, and price management) that fit the individual market conditions to ensure we are competitive in each market.
  • Collaboration: Foster relationships with internal teams, including marketing, merchandising, sales, facilities, finance, and supply chain, to drive cross-functional process improvement projects and initiatives.
Skills:
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the retail industry, preferably in grocery or food retail.
  • Strong understanding of retail operations, supply chain management, and logistics best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, drive operational efficiency, and achieve business objectives.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Solid financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
