Our client, a large international renewable energy firm, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead their North American team. Our client offers:

Duties:

• Lead the Electrical Engineering function; hiring, training and mentoring of electrical engineering staff and maintaining the relationship with the Corporate Engineering office.
• Lead the development of preliminary design criteria and specifications of substations, transmission lines, collection systems and low voltage systems for renewable energy facilities including wind farms, PV plants, Battery Energy Storage Systems and other renewable energy projects. Maintain and optimize preliminary design criteria and specifications per project lessons learned and best in class industry standards.
• Provide technical guidance and expertise to resolve complex engineering challenges during design and construction phases. Review and approval of project supporting calculations, electrical equipment specifications, engineering drawings and reports, FAT and SAT reports, commissioning reports, etc.
• Provide electrical technical support to Procurement department. Review and approval of technical evaluations of main electrical equipment. Approval of electrical equipment and material proposals from electrical contractors and OEMs.
• Negotiate with electrical contractors, OEMs and external consultants. Manage contracts, Consultant Services Agreements and Master Services Agreements, including definition of scope of work, review and approval of technical proposals and deliverables, RFI management. Oversee project budgets, schedules, and quality standards to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Develop and build strong relationships with 3rd party service providers, OEMs and utilities.
• Support commissioning, project back feed, collection system energization and first generator synchronization.
• Lead the electrical Root Cause Analysis to accurately determine failure modes and any quality audits necessary. Identify and share lessons learned from projects to accurately improve overall project safety, quality, schedule and cost.
• Create the weekly and monthly reporting requirements for our internal and external customers, as well as KPI reporting.
• Consulting with other areas of the organization, including O&M, Finance, Legal and Power Marketing.
• Identify and develop technology, tools and process improvements to enhance future projects and increase ROI.
• Responsible for the Safety and Environmental compliance of company personnel and electrical subcontractors in accordance with federal, state and local laws, and policies, practices and procedures. Ensure all personnel and electrical subcontractors meet technical and safety training requirements.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s in Power or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. P.E. preferred.
• 8 – 10 years of experience in Electrical Design of energy or heavy industrial facilities.
• 5 years’ experience in leadership role.
