The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund) , a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, seeks a Social Worker for The Waldman Living Room to help enhance the lives of older adults by managing activities that creatively work the mind and body to encourage healthy aging and enable safe “aging-in-place.” These can include cultural arts, social recreation, and other creative/educational activities.
The Waldman Living Room is a unique senior services center located at the Friedman Residencedesigned to address the social service needs of older adults, with a particular focus on developing creative activities and services that will help seniors stay socially engaged and maintain their independence. Programs are held virtually and in-person.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Activities Coordinator will work under the direction of the Director, Housing Services and Activity Programs and in collaboration with the program Social Worker. This position will assist in assessing the interests, skills, needs of program participants and developing activities that creatively work the mind and body to encourage healthy aging and enable safe “aging-in-place,” while also maintain the current calendar of events. These can include cultural arts, social recreation, and other creative/educational activities. The Coordinator will identify and collaborate with community organizations with existing complimentary programs. Activities are facilitated by the Coordinator and/or paid and volunteer group leaders. They will also work in partnership with other Entertainment Community Fund activity programs at additional housing sites and with the Seniors Social Work teams. The Activities Coordinator collaborates with and/or refer individuals to Entertainment Community social workers to address issues that arise.
Administrative responsibilities include scheduling of space, liaison with group facilitators, arranging transportation for outings, coordinating food for events, maintaining supplies and managing volunteers. Develops and distributes a regular activities schedule.
Maintains all records and statistics pertinent to program. Protects the confidentiality of all information. Administers and keeps current policies and procedures which guide the program and reflect the overall values and goals of The Entertainment Community Fund.
The Activities Coordinator works closely with the Social Worker, Waldman Living Room, on all administrative responsibilities related to the program. Administrative responsibilities include maintaining and distributing a regular activities schedule, calendar development, arranging transportation for outings, recordkeeping for the program and maintaining current policies and procedures which guide the program and reflect the overall values and goals of The Entertainment Community Fund.

This is a full-time hourly position based in the Entertainment Community Fund’s Dorothy Ross Friedman Residence in New York City.
