Title: Medical Coder - Quality Management System (QMS) Specialist

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Coder with expertise in Quality Management Systems (QMS) to join our healthcare team in Brooklyn, NY. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately assigning medical codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory requirements. In addition, this role will play a key part in implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems to enhance coding accuracy, efficiency, and quality.

Responsibilities:

• Assign appropriate medical codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services based on documentation provided by healthcare providers.
• Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness for coding purposes.
• Conduct thorough audits and assessments to identify coding errors, discrepancies, and compliance issues.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and billing staff to resolve coding-related inquiries and issues.
• Implement and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) to standardize coding processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Provide training and support to coding staff on QMS protocols, coding guidelines, and best practices.
• Monitor coding performance metrics and KPIs to assess accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with QMS standards.
• Stay up-to-date on changes in coding regulations, guidelines, and technology to ensure adherence to industry standards.
• Generate reports and analysis to evaluate coding performance, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, with a focus on Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Proficiency in medical coding software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Thorough understanding of coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in assigning medical codes.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to identify coding errors and discrepancies.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.14 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
