What's the job all about?

The summer internship is focused on the research and development of innovative methods for organizing and analyzing biological data. Interns will be integral to our team, tasked with data mining and constructing machine learning and deep learning models to forecast biological phenomena. A successful candidate will work with their mentor(s) to create sophisticated modules for transforming raw data into actionable insights, paving the way for the creation of predictive models. This position offers a unique chance to work alongside computational biologists, gaining knowledge of the latest breakthroughs in biotechnological research.

• Clean and curate internal and external datasets to maintain data quality.
• Enhance our existing data collection pipeline by incorporating a variety of features from public data sources using data mining techniques and API, contributing to a comprehensive biotech company knowledge base.
• Acquire and apply machine learning or deep learning methodologies to analyze biological data effectively.
• Build proficiency in essential programming languages, including R and Python, specifically for bioinformatics analysis.
• Engage with epigenetic datasets, employing tools to understand and interpret complex biological information.
• Execute and interpret computational methods and pipelines, providing novel insights into various biological problems.
• Present analytical results clearly and effectively to the team.
• Participate actively in team projects, demonstrating the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

What you can offer?

Education/Qualifications:

• Undergraduate/Master/Ph.D. in computer science, data science, life science, bioinformatics, medical informatics, or a related field
• Demonstrated proficiency in at least one programming language for big data management and analysis.
• Familiarity with R and Python, especially applied to bioinformatics, is highly advantageous.

• Salary Range: $20-24 per hour

*The salary of the final candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialization, skills, abilities, and training. The salary range represents Active Motif's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of the posting.
