Active Minerals Intl LLC is Hiring a Project/Process Engineer Near Macon, GA

Active Minerals International (AMI) is a worldwide leader in specialty industrial minerals. The company specializes in the production and marketing of high purity kaolin and gel quality attapulgite clay minerals for fiberglass, concrete, plaster, paints, rubber and agriculture industries.

We are looking for an experienced Project/Process Engineer to service all our plants. This position will be in Macon GA.

Project/Process Engineer Position Summary: 

This position will coordinate with specific projects and the evaluation and potential introduction of specific systems with and between different functional departments in our organization and will be exposed to all facets of the manufacturing operations within the AMI organization. This position will be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing innovative solutions at multiple facilities. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Oversee and manage all phases of engineering projects from conception to commissioning while maintaining timeline and budget.
  • Interact with all necessary governmental levels of local, state, and federal entities to ensure compliance on all projects.
  • Work as a contact for operational technology integration including PLC’s, HMI’s and integration to our Proficy data collection solution.
  • Provide technical and troubleshooting support with our operational technology to the plant staff and maintenance as well as other corporate groups utilizing this information.
  • Work as a cross-functional facilitator to improve the overall success of engineering projects.
  • Work with other departments to determine needs and align the needs of each to the final objectives.
  • Work within functional teams to help manage requirements and how these specific requirements interact with the other groups.
  • Assist in the determination of evaluation measurements for project success.
  • Prepares Work Instructions by identifying and describing equipment operating characteristics.
  • Lead root cause analysis to evaluate the causes of equipment failures and coordinate action items from root cause analysis to prevent future failures. A report will be generated following each analysis to be used as a record or baseline to measure progress or lack thereof, in the future.
  • Researches and makes recommendations regarding process improvements or modifications that improve process design, product quality, equipment reliability, and reduce manufacturing costs. This may lead to the recommendation for Capital projects or Expenditures.
  • Develop, maintain, and report monthly on metrics for measuring and assessing maintenance efforts, capturing lessons learned, and developing best practices. The metrics will include the availability of production equipment at each location, repair costs, inventory costs, and the cost variance between planned maintenance and actual maintenance.
Process Engineer Job Requirements and Skill Sets: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project etc.
  • Previous project management experience (from conception to implementation)
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • PLC Experience preferred
  • Ability to operate well in fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel independently to domestic locations as required
  • Must be a good communicator, both written and verbal

Working Conditions/Environment

  • Work is performed in a general office and manufacturing plant environments. The employee must be able to sit, stoop, bend and lift up to 85 lbs. Some areas may have extreme dust and heat.
  • This position may require up to 50% travel.
