Description

The Bridges Solar Technician Training Program provides technician-education instruction for those interested in entering the renewable energy career field. Join us as a Solar Technician Program Trainer in creating a supportive and enriching environment for our community. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead instructional sessions for adult trainees throughout a 13-week program.
  • Facilitate an established accredited curriculum under the Clean Energy Access Institute. 
  • Support trainees' academic development and career goals to acquire the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Associate credential.
  • Provide instruction and activities in the areas of photovoltaic systems, design, operations, construction, safety, and best practices.
  • Design and implement hands-on, lab-oriented solar technology, engineering, and construction-related activities.
  • Provide structured, project-based lessons on industry standards and learning that interconnect career development and integral subject knowledge.
  • Create and maintain an effective environment for learning.
  • Encourage behavior that promotes character development and professional development.
  • Implement rigorous lesson plans that are driven by technical and performance assessments.
  • Ensure that trainees display knowledge of content standards.
  • Utilize a proprietary learning management system (LMS) and other technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Implement and analyze computer-based tutorial lessons on the web or digital learning platforms associated with the industry standards and curriculum.
  • Develop activities which align with standards in the area of focus.
  • Expose trainees to a wide variety of skills and knowledge in topics ranging from initial exposure to a deeper understanding, which includes lab work and “hands-on training” outside of the classroom, and any practice of learning associated with providing technical capacity for a career in renewable energy.
  • Implement hands-on solar lab for onsite and remote training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required. 
  • A minimum of one year’s experience as a journeyman/journeywoman or as a technician in the solar industry is required. 
  • Three years experience as a certified teacher in a vocational-technical school environment or a related training program preferred. 
  • OSHA Certified Training preferred. 
  • PV Installation Professional Certification preferred.
  • Comfort with different education techniques and openness to new developments in the field.
  • Ability to function effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to document and maintain records in a database as well as paper files accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with partner organizations.
Physical & Environmental Conditions
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. 
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
