Our Geomatics staff is immersed in an exciting, fast-paced working environment that performs work on diverse projects, including locally administered (municipal) projects, universities, NCDOT, private/commercial developments, and more!

Qualifications:

• Highly knowledgeable in MicroStation Drafting, Geomatics Technology, Engineering Technology or related field
• Land Surveyor, Surveying, Surveyor, Party Chief, Crew Chief, Land, Instrument Operator, Rodman, SUE, S.U.E., Subsurface Utility
• Strong use of MicroStation
• High School diploma, GED or equivalent required
• Must have at least 1-2 years of survey experience
• Must be willing to travel to and from sites
• Must be willing to learn and operate Survey equipment (total stations and GPS)
• Must have experience in previous jobs or do no mind working outside on a regular basis preferably in extreme conditions
• Must be willing to work on a vacuum excavation truck to perform utility locating
• Individual will have good technical skills; behavioral traits of process oriented, steady, helpful, honest, trustworthy, adaptable, analytical, problem solver, likes work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, precise, hates mistakes and likes structure
• Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record
• Must be able to pass a drug test

Responsibilities:

• Perform SUE/utility locating on a variety of type projects
• To support the Geomatics team with a variety of CAD plus office related responsibilities
• Learn about different utility systems and how each works and is installed
• Learn and work with different equipment such as EM, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and vacuum excavation equipment
• Represent McAdams in a safe and professional manner - exhibiting honesty, practicing good ethics, and adhering to traffic laws/practicing safe driving habits

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• 2-years of experience would be ideal

• 1-5 years mapping underground utilities and above-ground utility surface features preferred, Land Development experience a plus.

• Knowledge and understanding of the Subsurface Utility Engineering (S.U.E) Quality Levels.

• Bentley MicroStation Open Roads Designer or experience with previous versions of Bentley MicroStation and GEOPAK software preferred, AutoCAD and Carlson Survey software experience is a plus.

• MicroStation coursework preferred.

• Strong familiarity with a Transportation Department's S.U.E and utility mapping CAD standards, such as NCDOT's, is a plus.

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).

• Candidates should be prepared to provide work samples and/or take a CAD test
