Description:

One of the largest privately held multidisciplinary engineering firms in central Virginia is currently seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join their team in the Midlothian, VA office! Projects are typically small to mid-sized for heavy industrial clients. This position will start in heavy design work and progress into more engineering and project management. Heavy structural focus- retrofit projects within existing industrial facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform civil and/or structural design duties as stand-alone projects; or as incidental to multidiscipline projects
• Assist project manager in developing estimates, schedules, material lists, design concepts, design drawings, and other project documentation
• Perform field work in industrial environments and technical research
• Tracking and complying with scopes, schedules and budgets
• Assisting engineers with cost and material estimates and preliminary design studies
• Direct interface with clients
• Checking the accuracy and quality of drawings

Top Skills & Qualifications:

• Civil/Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited undergraduate program
• Proficiency and/or knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, 3D CAD, Advance Steel, RISA 3D
• Knowledgeable of basic civil and structural material specifications to the extent that all information required for material purchase, fabrication and construction is reflected on the finished drawings
