Job Title: Specimen Handler

Job Description

• As a Specimen Handler, your main responsibility will be to transport specimens in the lab following a strict quality regulation and prescribed SOP. You will take samples from processors after labeling and bring them to the handling area.
• Your tasks will also include moving samples to the centrifuging area, supporting urine pour offs prior to testing, and transporting samples between buildings.
• You will be responsible for multi-tasking between different specimen handling functions, preparing SST specimens for RSA and/or for manual pour-off, placing specimens in centrifuge for spinning, and documenting all issues into the log book.
• You will be expected to communicate any problems to upper management and sort processed specimens into racks for delivery into the lab by pour off groups.

• Comfortable lifting 25 pounds
• Multi-task between different specimen handling functions
• Understanding and adherence to strict quality regulations and SOP
• Documenting issues

• Effective communication skills
• Ability to carry and push at least 30 pounds around laboratory
• Comfortable handling human samples

Work Environment

• The work environment involves standing for the entirety of the shift and handling samples with PPE.
• You will be required to move samples after processing to the different areas of the laboratory for testing.
• The job also includes carrying samples to different lab departments pre and post-testing.
• Shifts are from Monday to Friday (10pm - 6:30am) with rotating Saturdays.
• Training will be provided for 2 weeks on the same schedule.
