Description:
This is an opportunity to join a small, entrepreneurial, and well-funded biotech company. Building on research breakthroughs from an internationally renowned scientific team. We are searching for an experienced Senior Research Associate with advanced laboratory skills in virology and cellular and molecular biology. A great interest in drug discovery and cutting-edge science is essential for this position.• Propagate BSL-2 level viruses and cell lines for evaluation of candidate drugs• Perform standard analyses of cell growth properties and viral replication• Perform routine screening of candidate drugs in high-throughput plate formats (96, 384-well)• Perform advanced molecular and cell biological analyses of viral and cellular targets of candidate drugs including signal transduction assays of observed antiviral effects• Develop new viral, cellular and molecular assays as needed, validating reproducibility, sensitivity, and dynamic range to establish utility and appropriateness for comparative drug profiling• Demonstrate rigor in assay optimization and compound profiling with objective to support medicinal chemistry efforts to optimally rank compounds and select drugs going into the clinic to treat patients

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
• 7 years of laboratory work and industry experience with proven ability to independently design, troubleshoot, and successfully execute experiments with proper controls for interpretation• Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience) in Virology, Immunology, Microbiology or related biological sciences • Efficient BSL2 tissue culture techniques of mammalian cell lines, virus propagation, titration• Demonstrated independent expertise in molecular biology techniques including DNA and RNA manipulation, PCR, cloning, transfection, virus transduction• Demonstrated independent expertise in cellular protein analyses techniques (e.g., Western blot, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence)
