Actalent is Hiring a Remote Remote Nuclear Systems Engineer

Overview:

We are currently seeking to hire 2 Mechanical Systems/Nuclear Engineers that can do process flow calculations, hand calculations. Also looking at developing/reviewing P&IDs, (selecting valve types, essentially selecting appropriate components for the system) and drawings for the systems. A lot of design basis, developing inputs, requirements, there's a lot of documentation that goes along with this because they're in the development phase and advancing the design forward. Then evaluating and allocating requirements down. These positions will be supporting work in an R&D environment advancing the design of a BWR reactor.

Description:

The Mechanical Systems/Nuclear Engineer will be a key member of the Engineering team and be responsible to interfaces with multiple engineering disciplines, Business Managers, Project Managers, and customers. In this role you will be accountable for meeting functional, business, and broad company objectives in support of advanced reactor design concepts such as the BWR X-300 project. The Mechanical Systems/Nuclear Engineer will be challenged with complex technical issues in a dynamic project environment

  • Provide misc. technical support as directed by the Manager and associated Technical Leads in the development of the Mechanical Nuclear Island systems.
  • Apply engineering knowledge and practical experience to the analysis, investigation, and solution of complex design problems and application issues. 
  • Develop drawings and specifications to assure products can reliably meet all engineering and quality requirements.
  • Develop process flow diagrams and perform thermodynamic and heat/fluid flow transfer analyses for process flow calculations for reactor plants systems and components. 
  • Professionally respond to customer information requests, emergent plant issues, and audits. 
  • Work proactively with product line and quality personnel through process procedure approvals, process qualification approvals, and non-conforming material disposition. 
  • Review proposals and evaluate orders with emphasis on knowledge system design bases, operations, and maintenance 
  • Support client quality requirements defined in policies and procedures. 
  • Perform tasks directed by Manager, Light Water Reactor Systems, and technical lead.
  • In-depth knowledge of major reactor systems and their operation.
  • Proven technical skills within project management environment.
  • Proven oral / written communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform while challenged by multiple demands and changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including customer interface experience.
  • Experience with design, evaluation, and operation of nuclear power plant components.

Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in a mechanical systems environment, specifically in the nuclear industry. Experienced working on new units system design work, P&IDs, process flow calculations, etc.
  • background in triple "S" systems (nuclear steam supply system) , or nuclear island systems would be ideal.
