Job Title: Project Engineer/Mechanical Designer

Description:

Bohemia-based Engineering Consulting firm with a well-established history is looking for a Project Engineer to join their team. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the engineering design of HVAC systems, as well as the overall MEP engineering design, construction administration, and project management for a number of institutional clients. The role will require the performance of load calculations, site surveys, design review, preparation of detailed engineering drawings and schematics, as well as field inspections for MEP systems. The projects will be primarily for government and institutional clients with an focus on the HVAC/MEP design and the Project Engineer will be responsible for taking ownership of the projects from design all the way through construction. Candidate should have 4 years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering as well as a proven record of taking projects form design to finish to be successful in the role.

Must Have:

• 4 years of Mechanical Design experience
  • Specifically HVAC systems
• 4 years working with AutoCAD
• Knowledge of Building Codes
  • NYS Energy Code, Mechanical Code, Building Code and NFPA
• Bachelors degree in Engineering

Work Environment

Main work will be in the Bohemia office, but will require occasional site visits, starting with 1 time per week, but it could be more depending on the project. When on site, the Project Engineer will be performing field survey work such as observing and assessing existing conditions, but there will be no testing or disassembly involved.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• If candidate has experience with estimating on projects that would be a plus.
• If candidates have either their EIT or PE that would also be a big plus.
  • Will consider a candidate who has plans to obtain EIT within the next year.
