Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Specimen Processor to join our team. As a Specimen Processor, you will play a crucial role in the accurate and efficient processing of laboratory specimens. Your primary responsibility will be to receive, label, and prepare specimens for analysis. This is a vital position within our clinical laboratory, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of results to healthcare providers.
Duties:
- Receive and log in specimens using the laboratory information system
- Verify patient information and specimen integrity
- Prepare specimens for analysis by labeling and organizing them appropriately
- Follow established laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing
- Perform basic laboratory procedures such as centrifugation and aliquoting
- Maintain inventory of supplies and reagents needed for specimen processing
- Adhere to quality control and quality assurance protocols
- Assist with data entry and result reporting as needed
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Familiarity with clinical laboratory operations and procedures
- Ability to handle pediatric specimens with care and attention to detail
- Experience with catheterization, phlebotomy, spinal taps, or cardiac catheterization is a plus
- Proficient in using laboratory information systems and other computer applications
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in specimen processing
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with other laboratory staff
