Actalent is in search of a Seawater Desalination Project Operator will maintain and obtain data regarding the treatment processes.

Reporting directly to the Lead Pilot Operator and/or management team, the Project Operator has full responsibility for assisting in the successful operation of the project pilot unit system and equipment during the Pilot Study. The Project Operator will play a critical role in confirming the future full-scale plant design and water quality conformance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintain systems to desalinate seawater, remove harmful substances, and return water to the ecosystem during the pilot phase; to create domestic water or safely, efficiently, and effectively.
• Assess any impacts to the existing water in the distribution system based on current data and the pilot product water using data gathered during the pilot study; participate in conducting feasibility studies prior to construction of the desalination facility in the area.
• Analyzes various desalination treatment methods used to prepare water for industrial and domestic use; recommends the most effective method.
• Analyzes disposal methods or treatments; recommends and develops methods to best serve the assigned area.
• Maintain layout and specifications for various pumping and lifting systems.
• Reviews and critiques water and desalination treatment system.
• Perform equipment operation and maintenance.
• Collaborates with Lead Engineers and Pilot Operators regarding performance of the treatment system.
• Assist with troubleshooting process and equipment repair.
• Conducts environmental studies regarding the collection, treatment, of desalinated seawater.
• Reads and interprets meters, gauges, and charts.
• Knowledge and subject matter expertise to include operational logs, forms, and records. (Interpret and report data)
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent teamwork, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to collect and interpret data and develop reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and other relevant analytical, scientific, or monitoring software.
• Basic knowledge of mathematics, chemistry and/ or science related studies.
• Thorough understanding of applicable government environmental and safety regulations.

Education and Experience:

• College degree in Engineering, Science or Math preferred.
• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Coursework in water/wastewater preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license
