Actalent is Hiring a Construction Inspector Near Farmington, MI

Description:

Client is seeking multiple Construction Inspectors. The primary duties of this position will include inspection and documentation of MDOT construction and/or demolition projects as well as mentoring and leading more junior-level inspectors.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

• Daily inspection of contractor’s operations on construction or demolition projects.

• Verifying conformance with construction plans and other contract documents.

• Generating detailed daily reports and other required documentation.

• Overseeing maintaining traffic operations/traffic control devices.

• Monitoring soil erosion and sedimentation control devices.

• Assisting project management staff with identifying problems and developing viable solutions.

They will give these employees a company truck to drive to and from job sites to, so clean driving record is needed. They have offices in both Metro Detroit and Lansing area, and have MDOT projects and SE and Mid Michigan, so these positions can cover any of these areas.

Projects could be in metro Detroit and/or Jackson/Lansing area.

Candidates MUST be comfortable working 60-80 plus hours per week during the busy season (May-October)

Skills & Qualifications:

2 plus years of MDOT road construction inspection experience

Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Field Manager/FieldBook and/or ProjectWise software knowledge

Certified in one or more of the following MDOT-related testing areas: Density, Concrete, HMA, aggregate sampling, SESC, etc)

Experience in verifying traffic control set-ups

Valid driver’s license with good driving record

Ability and willingness to work 60-80 hours per week

BONUS:

NPDES certification

Associates or higher education

Civil experience

5 plus years of experience

ability to lead teams
