Actalent is Hiring a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Near Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Description:

Performs moderate and complex clinical tests. Exhibits skills and proficiency in applying technical principles and techniques of medical technology.Prepares and tests new reagents or controls and evaluates their usefulness based on standard criteria.Performs quality control and calibrations with appropriate frequency and evaluates results, to decide whether test results should be reported. Take appropriate action in discrepant or unexpected test results. Documents as appropriate. Reports any shifts or trends to clinical laboratory supervisor within expected time frame.Determines the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria in testing procedures.Responds to test requisitions promptly, with attention to patient’s name, type of test and time of test.Determines calculated result utilizing testing data by means of manual or computerized procedures.Evaluates the acceptability of routine analysis prior to releasing patient reports. Takes appropriate action in response to critical values or unusual or unexpected results, and documents action taken.Accurately enters results of testing. Reviews reports to monitor accurate reporting of laboratory results.Notify physicians/clinical staff of critical or abnormal patient results promptly.Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and/or calibration of laboratory equipment and properly documenting actions taken based on approved schedule.Evaluates the results of instrument performance checks. Performs linearity, accuracy and precision checks when required.Accurately performs and records proficiency testing.Demonstrates proficiency in operation of automated instruments, particularly in the area of troubleshooting, calibration and maintenance.Recognizes and resolves problems, uses alternative methods when available. Notifies supervisor of problems and contacts manufacturer for additional assistance or field service support as appropriate.Demonstrates the ability to coordinate simultaneous functions with complete accuracy.Is attentive to record keeping, documentation of work performed and required clerical tasks.Notifies supervisor of work completion, and reports for additional assignments.Strives to reduce any holdover procedures. Work pending is organized and appropriately left for follow-up.Demonstrates the flexibility to adjust schedule in response to fluctuations in the workload.Provides knowledge of medical technology and technical guidance and acts as reference for lab assistants, phlebotomists, technicians and clinical staff, physicians and patients. Instructs and/or assists in employee orientation and training upon the request of a supervisor.Dates, initials or signs all laboratory documents and computer entries as required.Demonstrates the ability to perform computer functions accurately.Maintains a safe, clean and organized work area. Disposes of hazardous materials properly per department and manufacturers’ guidelines.Monitors and maintains a consistent supply of reagents and consumables.Promptly and courteously answers the phone and assists clients and other departments.Maintains professional growth and development through continuing education activities.Adheres to HRC Policies and Procedures. Follows the guidelines for attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control.Demonstrates a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.Participates in all pertinent committees and meetings.Provides direct and constant supervision to unlicensed staff as necessary.Performs phlebotomy service and non-technical responsibilities as needed.All other projects and duties as assigned, within scope of position.
