The current owners purchased the company in 1989 with the intention of growing the business into new geographic territories and strategic markets. Today, ACT has 16 geographic sites across Texas.

Location of Position:

Houston, TX

The Position:

The assistant Controller will complete many administrative, organization, and analysis tasks to monitor the financial health of the business. Their duties and responsibilities include using industry knowledge, soft skills, and technical abilities to effectively support executive management and other colleagues in assessing and improving the organization's finances.

Essential Job Duties:

• Draft monthly/annual financial statements for upper management.
• Perform branch accounting duties for 27 branches within 2 divisions.
• Ensure all accounting practices follow legal guidelines and established accounting principles.
• Assist with tax documentation preparation.
• Work with the company financial team to create/improve internal controls and policies.
• Completing monthly/quarterly/annual bank reports,
• Reconcile all cash accounts.
• Collaborate with the IT Department to maintain financial records and system processes.
• Prepare for annual audits and interim testing.
• Research/correct historical accounts.
• Identify solutions to financial record discrepancies.

Education & Qualifications:

• Accounting degree from a four-year college or university required
• CPA Certification required
• Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations and best practices
• Excellent understanding of state/federal governmental guidelines, tax laws that affect the company
• Proficient in basic office and accounting software programs, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
