Role Summary

The PMO Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring effective program management within an organization. They oversee the day-to-day activities of the PMO, provide guidance on PMO policies and processes, and collaborate with other department leaders to develop and prioritize projects and programs. The successful candidate must be effective in 'juggling multiple priorities & projects , interacting with the most senior leaders in the company and be able to effectively influence, drive alignment, decision making to achieve results. This role will require very effective vendor management. Being an expert communicator and relationship builder is essential and critical for this position's effectiveness and success.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Guidance and Implementation:
    • Provide expert guidance related to PMO processes and policies.
    • Ensure that best practices are followed during project execution.
    • Oversee the work of project management staff.
  • Collaboration and Prioritization:
    • Work closely with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs.
    • Align initiatives with organizational goals and strategic objectives.
  • Personnel Management:
    • Manage subordinate staff within the PMO.
    • Monitor day-to-day performance and adherence to approved budgets.
    • Hold full authority for personnel actions.
  • Project and Department Oversight:
    • Ensure that project and department milestones/goals are met.
    • Adhere to approved budgets and resource allocations.
  • Build key success metrics to evaluate the impact of various SOPs, templates, improvements, and overall governance structure
  • Ensures appropriate IT processes and methods (e.g. SDLC) and application, technical, development, and architecture policies and standards in the completion of project work.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Business or Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 12 years of IT Project/Program Management experience or equivalent, spanning multiple functional areas (supply chain, sales, marketing, IT, etc.)
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Proven experience in developing assessment and execution methodologies for new areas
  • 20% travel (domestic and international) as required

  • Effective change manager, attention to detail, problem solving skills, enthusiasm, assertiveness, and ability to be hands on as needed.
  • Able to quickly develop deep understanding of C&D s business from a cultural & operational perspective.
  • Results oriented, pragmatic executor.
  • Consumer Products Industry experience and experience working in regulated environment(preferred)
  • Influencing: Demonstrates clear leadership and the ability to influence and persuade. Develops influential relationships internally and externally at all levels.
  • Leadership and Communication:
    • Strong leadership skills to guide teams effectively.
    • Excellent communication abilities for collaboration across departments.
  • Analytical Thinking and Problem-Solving:
    • Ability to analyze complex situations and make informed decisions.
    • Creative problem-solving skills to address challenges.
  • Project Management Proficiency:
    • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
    • Experience in managing project timelines, resources, and deliverables.
    • Project, Program, and/or Agile certification
  • Financial Acumen:
    • Understanding of budget management and resource allocation.
    • Ability to ensure projects adhere to approved budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with PMO governance and SDLC standards.
  • Manage budgets for individual projects.
  • Provide support and guidance to Project Managers
  • Resolve conflicts within IT and business groups.
  • Implement and maintain hybrid Agile methodologies.
  • Utilize MS Project for planning and Azure DevOps for Scrum
  • Experience transitioning from a project manager role to a PMO Manager
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Experience in hybrid Agile methodologies.
  • PMP certification
  • Experience working in matrixed environments.
