ACE Academy is seeking a full time custodian/porter. ACE is a small non profit private school that focuses on individualization and personal gifted education. This position requires knowledge of how to safely operate all cleaning equipment used to perform custodial work. Applicants should be dependable and consistent in work habits. This position requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions, and knowledge of reading and writing and the use of simple arithmetic. Applicants should be able to communicate and interact with fellow employees, school staff, and administrators, and have the ability to work well with people. It is preferred that employees in this position be able to read, write, and speak/communicate in English in order to receive and to provide work-related information in a timely manner. This role will be responsible for assisting with sustainable cleaning and waste management including but not limited to recycling and other means of landfill waste diversion.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Sweep, mop and/or vacuum floors and carpets
• Empty all trash and recycling receptacles at venue
• Maintain cleanliness around entire school
• Clean windows, glass partitions and mirrors
• Clean and dust all surfaces
• Apply wax to coat floors, buff and apply sealant as needed
• Clean and service all restrooms
• Light porter duties to maintain cleanliness of exterior
• Light handyman duties when needed

Skills Abilities included but are not limited to:

• Able to take direction and work together as a team
• Hospitality-minded attitude- friendly, outgoing
• Familiar with working in a K-8 school environment

Education Experience Requirements:

• HS Diploma or GED Certification
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Min of 2 years previous experience preferred
• Must clear school based background check

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling and/or climbing stairs
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times
• Must be comfortable performing repetitive cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping and wiping surfaces
