Position Summary:

To support AccuWeather’s continued focus on innovation and generating superior weather products, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Learning Engineer with proficiency in Databricks to join our innovative team. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and deploying machine learning models and solutions. Your expertise in leveraging Databricks for data processing and model development will be instrumental in driving the success of our advanced analytics initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Machine Learning Model Development: Design, implement, and deploy machine learning models to address business challenges and enhance decision-making processes.
  2. Databricks Utilization: Utilize Databricks for efficient data processing, feature engineering, and model development, optimizing workflows for scalability and performance.
  3. Data Exploration and Preparation: Collaborate with data scientists and data engineers to explore and prepare data for machine learning applications, ensuring data quality and reliability.
  4. Model Training and Evaluation: Train, evaluate, and fine-tune machine learning models, employing best practices to achieve optimal performance and accuracy.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and deliver effective machine learning solutions.
  6. Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in machine learning to enhance the team's capabilities and methodologies.
  7. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of machine learning models, processes, and experiments.
  8. Performance Optimization: Identify and implement optimizations in Databricks workflows to improve overall efficiency and reduce processing times.

Qualifications:

  1. Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  2. Experience:
    • Proven experience (2 years) as a Machine Learning Engineer and/or Data Scientist with a focus on model development and deployment.
    • Demonstrated expertise in utilizing Databricks for data processing and analytics.
  3. Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
    • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or Scala.
    • Experience with Databricks notebooks, clusters, and job execution.
    • Experience with Databricks MLlib and MLflow.
  4. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective machine learning solutions.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
