Marine Propeller Technician

AccuTech Marine Propeller, Inc. is a full-service repair center for marine propellers, shafts, struts, rudders, etc. We are proud to be the only repair center in the Northeast that utilizes PropScan, TrueProp, and Hale MRI technology.

Job Description for

MARINE PROPELLER TECHNICIAN

Tuning

· Assess propellers on repairs needed

· Repair and/or modification of marine propellers made from aluminum, stainless steel, manganese bronze, and NiBral (nickel aluminum bronze) material utilizing the correct tools to manipulate the metal

· Utilize proprietary computerized measuring equipment and be able to relate hydrodynamic principles to the modification of marine propellers

· Weld repair of marine propellers

· Machine propeller bores

Grinding

· Assess the surface to be ground

· Select proper grinder and grade of abrasive to attach to grinder

· Change abrasive as needed to achieve required surface finish

· Operate cutting equipment as needed

· Rig and lift using overhead crane equipment to move product through shop

Essential Job Functions

· Basic hand tools (hammer, wrench, etc.)

· Basic cleaning (broom, rags, etc.)

· Must present and communicate in a professional manner

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Must be organized with good time management skills

· Computer proficiency in Windows, Microsoft applications, and Google applications

· Must be self-motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed goals

· Marine industry experience is a plus but is not necessary as we will train

· Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location or line of business

· Ability to perform basic math and measurement functions

· Ability to stand and work for long periods of time

· Ability to legibly and properly fill out paperwork (time cards, inspection reports, etc.)

· Ability to understand and follow all state and company safety rules

· Ability to use PPE (respirator, safety glasses, etc..) as required

· Ability to follow direction and learn proper profiling and dimensions

· Ability to use the following equipment: Electric grinder, hand grinder, special grinding apparatus

· Overhead crane (will train)

· Balancing equipment

· Welding / Cutting equipment (MIG, TIG, plasma, etc.)

· Forklift (we will train)

· Pitch table (will train)

· Chains and straps on crane (rigging and lifting)

Qualifications

· Legally eligible to work in the United States

· High School diploma or equivalent

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

· Valid driver’s license with a good driving record, reliable transportation, and ablilty to meet AccuTech driving qualifications

· Must successfully complete pre-employment screening

· Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, and training
