Our radiation therapy for cancer makes treatment shorter, safer, personalized and more effective, ultimately enabling patients to live longer, better lives. Job Description Responsibilities: Participate in the research, evaluation, and advanced development of algorithms applied to therapeutic radiation treatment planning with a focus on development and implementation of algorithms and application development in any of the following areas: Deformable registration, automatic segmentation, graphics, 3D geometry, tracking, dose calculation, adaptive dose monitoring, machine learning / data science, optimization, replanning. Develop and debug production code for a suite of adaptive radiotherapy applications in a modern software stack Benchmark and compare performance of algorithms with alternative approaches Design algorithms to run on CPU (multi-threaded) or GPU to achieve performance goals Interact with research collaborators and medical professionals to evaluate technical capabilities, user needs, and alternative approaches for mathematical solutions of clinical problems Maintain integrated research environment and evaluate algorithms in a variety of clinical situations Demonstrated ability to systematically troubleshoot and debug complex systems, including field support for customer escalations Document work in written reports and oral presentations Participate in journal/literature reviews and development of new intellectual property via patents and internal technical reports Occasional travel may be required Qualifications: MS or higher degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Medical Physics or related field (Ph.D. preferred) Minimum 3 years’ experience doing algorithm research, development, and integration in 3D medical image analysis and 3D graphics and one or more of the areas listed above Have strong software development skills: object-oriented design, C /C# , data structures, parallel programming concepts, refactoring, design patterns, client-server architecture, microservices, unit testing Previous experience in the medical equipment industry a plus Experience with developing/debugging production code Experience with design of parallel implementations is desired; CUDA knowledge a plus C/C development experience required; cloud computing experience a plus Must have excellent written and oral communication skills Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment Must be able to interact with clinical customers such as physicians, medical physicists, and research collaborators Will consider appointment as a Senior Research Scientist for more experienced candidates. Location: Flexible. Preferred locations: Chapel Hill, NC, Madison, WI, Guadalajara, MX; open to candidates working remotely from other locations.
