Position Description: Construction (QA) Inspector

(RECRUITERS MAY NOT CONTACT- Direct Applicants Only)

REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a Federal Background Review and drug screen

**Work Location: Santa Barbara County, CA, VSFB ***

Essential Duties

  • Must have knowledge of building and construction crafts since detailed inspections must be made to ensure the required level of workmanship
  • Experience with wide range of trades including, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, roofing, and general building construction
  • Monitor submittals utilizing a submittal status log.
  • Review and comment on the accuracy of the construction contractor’s requests for payment. .
  • Review and acknowledge daily reports including verification of the project schedule by indicating the activities worked on that day and the activities behind schedule.
  • Maintain an Inspectors Site Inspection Report.
  • Maintain orderly working files for correspondence, minutes of meetings and conferences, payments, updated progress schedules, monthly progress reports, punch lists, field changes,
  • Requests for Information (RFI), and contract documents including amendments, notices to proceed, change orders, modifications, and other locally generated documents developed during the course of construction.
  • Participate in pre-final and final inspections, assist in preparations of detailed punch-lists and check that all punch list items are corrected prior to final payment.
  • Verify accurate as-built drawings on a weekly basis
  • Assist in review and comment on all O&M Manuals.

Required Experience

  • At least seven years of QAR experience performing quality assurance verification on construction contract
  • Experience enforcing EM 385-1-1 and all applicable safety requirements
  • Experience enforcing OSHA rules and regulations
  • Demonstrates experience with performing the following duties: submittal review, quality verification, validating contractor pay request and preparing daily reports
  • Minimum of three contracts listed similar in size, scope and complexity to the requirements
  • Experience with Federal Construction projects, particularly USACE, is preferred.
  • Interaction with clients and contractors requires candidate to have a professional presentation along with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Education

  • High School Diploma is required or GED
  • Minimum of five years of applicable experience on construction projects
QARs will be working in remote locations where they will experience extreme environmental conditions (e.g. varying beach and coastal climates across the seasons.) Must be physically capable of enduring these conditions.
