JOB TITLE: Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager the EHS Specialist will lead and direct the Environmental, Health, and Safety activities for Accu-Tube’s two facilities in the Denver area.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

· The Health and Safety Technician is responsible for implementing and maintaining regulatory requirements relating to OSHA, RCRA, and EPA across two sites in the Denver Metro Area.

· Evaluates operations and projects to ensure and improve compliance with safety and health requirements to ensure hazards are identified and corrected.

· Assist in implementing a companywide Lockout Tagout Program.

· Develop and implement Job Hazard Analysis for all job functions.

· Perform tasks related to regulatory waste handling, storage, and disposal requirements.

· Monitor and manage levels of hazardous waste at each department’s satellite accumulation area.

· Ensure all waste is properly stored.

· Coordinate waste shipments with facilities manager and waste disposal contractors.

· Perform tasks related to spill response/prevention.

· Maintain adequate spill supplies: spill kits, empty drums, secondary containment.

· Maintain Safety Data Sheets and chemical inventory.

· Conduct site safety training / orientations.

· Identify safety issues and successfully resolve using effective communication and positive reinforcement.

· Schedules, coordinates, and conducts health and safety inspection.

· Join and assist in leading safety committee.

· Assist in updating Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

· Conduct incident investigations.

· Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Environmental Health and Safety or equivalent.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills; English fluent required, Bilingual Spanish preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/CHARACTERISTICS

· 1 Year/s of relevant EHS experience preferred.

· 1 years of previous manufacturing industry experience preferred.

· Familiar with environmental and safety policies, procedures, and regulations

· Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

· Strong technical and problem-solving skills.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Windows products including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

· Manufacturing automation experience preferred, but not required.

· Knowledge of building and construction codes

· Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the organization.

· Experienced with and demonstrated ability to follow established standards, policy, and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

· Indoor production environment, duties performed indoors, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures.

· Personal protective equipment including safety glasses and gloves may be required in many areas associated with this position.

· Exposure to metals, lubricants, solvents, electrolyte, and other hazardous materials. Exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Frequently positions self to move an item <40 lbs; Occasionally, 40-50 lbs

· Frequently move about the production floor and office area

· Frequently operates a computer, enters data into systems, verifies information, etc.

· Sitting for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $46,488.24 - $55,985.84 per year
