ACCO Engineered Systems is Hiring a Payroll Tax Accountant Near Pasadena, CA

General Job Description:

Prepare/review of payroll tax returns including but not limited to 941s, W2s W2Cs, state payroll and employment tax reporting in conjunction with external service providers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for clients and internal leaders
  • Lead accurate and timely reporting of payroll tax liabilities and payments for multiple states and entities, ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws.
  • Develop and implement standardized processes, controls, and procedures to maintain accurate tax rates, reconcile data between systems, and streamline tax reporting.
  • Take ownership of quarter and year-end payroll tax filings, W-2s, and amendments, leveraging your in-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll tax compliance
  • Proactively monitor and stay informed about newly released tax regulations, such as the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC) and assess their impact on payroll tax operations.
  • Coordinate return preparation internally and with external service providers. 
  •  Prepare payroll tax related adjustments for various compensation related items and coordinate with payroll/benefits for inclusion in payrolls. 
  • Act as tax liaison in coordinated W2 yearend review, testing, preparation, filing and delivery process. 
  • Ensure that payroll policies and procedures are in line with federal and state payroll tax law and monitors changed in payroll tax law. 
  • Monitor changes in payroll tax software 
  • Monitor changes in tax calculation software 
  • Work with external service provider in monthly/quarterly/annual tax compliance reporting and account maintenance 
  • Work with external service provider in annual W2 process 
  • Work with Payroll on continuous improvement of the payroll process, specifically how it relates to payroll tax.
  • Represent Tax and Financial Accounting in discussions regarding changes, etc. to payroll and accounting systems. 
  • Support and assist process optimization and innovation.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Position Requirements (Skills, Work Experience, Education, Certifications, Licenses, etc.):

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting Required.
  • 5 years (preferred) of Tax Experience 
  • Knowledge of Payroll and Employment Tax law. 
  • Hands on experience with payroll tax software/ERP systems 
  • Produces work with minimal errors and can assist with detail level review of other’s work. 
  • Problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills. 
  • Detail oriented and organized. 
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to prioritize effectively with flexibility to respond to changing needs 
  • Project management skills (self-directed, with excellent prioritization, planning and organization skills).

Hours:

This is an exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the position's supervisor. Occasional overtime may be necessary per business needs.

Competitive Wages:

$81,000 to $106,500 Annual Salary. Applicants please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others.
